Over the years Länsförsäkringar Stockholm has always placed great focus on health and wellbeing, and has therefore made sporadic one-off efforts in the form of health tests. In early 2017 OneLab was one such initiative and has since become a long-term health partner. We spoke with Kristina Bergman, Business Developer at Länsförsäkringar Stockholm, who explains how OneLab has made them an even healthier company.
Länsförsäkringar Stockholm has around 400 employees and operates in Stockholm County. The company offers good health benefits such as private healthcare insurance, massage and a generous wellness allowance. But they want to become even better while also understanding where to focus their efforts.
Sporadic one-off efforts have become continuity
Since Länsförsäkringar Stockholm had not had a recurring routine for health screenings, they decided at the end of 2016 to engage another health company. After screening potential partners, OneLab was among those who negotiated to become Länsförsäkringar's health provider. OneLab won the contract and the first health screening was carried out in 2017. Contact resumed the following year when it was time for a follow-up.
"The response among employees has been very positive — above all because it works so simply. OneLab comes out to all our offices, which is both convenient and helps us increase participation. OneLab handles all the administration for us," says Kristina Bergman.
The tests give us results that make us focus more on health
With two health screenings completed, Länsförsäkringar Stockholm has gained insights into how they can build a healthier company in the future. Participation has been very high in both tests, and those who missed out were sent a home kit so they could do it on their own.
With massage and wellness allowance Länsförsäkringar Stockholm has come a good way towards being a healthy company, but has also realised how important it is to go deeper and understand how employees are doing. Based on the results Länsförsäkringar Stockholm received from the tests, they now offer lectures on health, have expanded the opportunity for massage from every other week to every week, and have removed Friday's delicatessen bun and instead invested in Friday rolls to encourage togetherness.
"Since we have already done two tests a year apart, we have been able to compare the tests to see whether there has been an improvement or deterioration in certain areas. Blood pressure, stress and exhaustion have for example improved somewhat, while physical activity has declined somewhat."
Physical activity in focus
The test results have led Länsförsäkringar to work more actively with physical activity. In addition to wellness activities they also encourage, for example, a colleague who is a trained personal trainer to train with their colleagues, which has had a very positive effect.
"We have only received positive feedback on OneLab's health screenings, and that is shown above all by the high participation among employees. Our employees appreciate that we take health seriously and we feel it is reassuring that they get help if they should have an abnormal test result," concludes Kristina Bergman.
