How the accounting firm took a holistic approach to employee health

When people are a company’s most important competitive advantage, it is vital to find an occupational health partner that looks at employees’ health as a whole. It was a course in employment law that made Helena Grufman, co-owner and Deputy CEO at accounting firm ViRedo, understand how important preventive health care is for staff. Helena drew up a plan for ViRedo’s employee health and met different providers to establish a partnership — an important part of the plan was finding high-quality occupational health care. The choice fell on OneLab.

The partnership, which has now been running for more than four years, includes an annual assessment of employees’ physical and mental health, making it possible to detect health risks early. Employees also receive individual recommendations, health advice and professional conversational support with a nurse or doctor when needed or when a health risk is identified. An annual health screening probably would not have happened without the partnership with OneLab, Helena believes. ”If you don’t have symptoms that clearly limit your health, it is so easy to skip a health screening. What convinced her to choose OneLab in particular was that the solution is modern and looks at the whole person — not just the physical. This is especially important for companies that compete with their knowledge and their employees’ expertise, Helena believes. ”For me it was important to find a partner with a holistic view of health that addresses both physical and mental health. When we compared with other solutions, we felt too many focused solely on physical health, which does not feel sufficient in today’s landscape, when many companies face challenges around employees’ mental health.”

Health work is constantly evolving at ViRedo. Helena is currently considering some concrete initiatives for the autumn, but as they are still at the idea stage we will return to those later in the year.
