After switching to OneLab, Grant Thornton's health screening participation rose from 62% to 92%. We spoke with Therese Donati Hanngren, HR at Grant Thornton, who explains how the partnership has not only increased participation — but also contributed to initiatives for a healthier working life within the company.

Grant Thornton has 1,200 employees at 24 offices in Sweden and provides services in audit, business services, tax and advisory.

On-site sampling

One of the goals in the business plan launched in 2018 concerns a sustainable working life, and Grant Thornton decided to evaluate possible partners for health screenings. They chose OneLab. "It felt modern, new and simple," says Therese.

In autumn 2018 the first health screening was carried out in Stockholm and southern Sweden, which resulted in a 48% increase in participation. Therese believes the reason for the increase is that employees previously had to leave the workplace to carry out the examination, unlike now when OneLab comes on site. Grant Thornton employees are already out with clients a lot, which has made the health screening difficult to arrange in practice. "With OneLab they come to our offices across Sweden, which makes it much easier for us," says Therese.

Appreciated by employees

The response among employees has been positive. Unlike before, employees now receive a brochure with their results along with information about what is tested and how they can actually improve their values. "You also get an indication of your biological age, which has become a talking point in the offices," says Therese.

Many employees have also expressed that they appreciated the examination and that everything around it worked smoothly. From booking in employees' calendars, on-site sampling by a friendly nurse to the feedback.

High participation

With the high participation, Grant Thornton now has a better picture of how their employees are doing and is actively working on initiatives linked to the results. Employees have also started various health initiatives such as "health bingo" where employees, for example, are supposed to stand and work for an hour a day or eat a vegetarian meal once a week, and so on — all to become a healthier workplace.

"At the moment we are looking at how we can help those who received somewhat poorer values, and there too we have received support from OneLab on what we could do for our employees," concludes Therese.
