AMF Fastigheter inspires with everyday health work

When HR duo Frida Rönquist and Tina Strind describe AMF Fastigheter, they talk about a workplace shaped by trust and confidence in one another, where colleagues dare to try new things and like to share. Health is also at the centre, with comprehensive, continuous and engaging health work.

"We want to create the conditions for our colleagues to feel well. Because we care about them, and because we believe it becomes a win-win"

Frida works as an HR partner and is a human resources specialist and health educator by training. She is responsible for AMF Fastigheter's value offering to employees, among other things. Tina works in HR with primary responsibility for payroll and benefits. Together they drive an approach that combines inclusive preventive health screenings with continuous health engagement in everyday life.

The decision to open up to everyone

When AMF Fastigheter updated its benefits offering almost two years ago, the aim was to move from selective health screenings for older colleagues to an inclusive model that everyone can take part in. That became the start of a new health strategy where the health screening became a shared starting point and where help with follow-up is also provided when results show a need. "I think it feels so natural to offer a health screening for everyone," says Frida. "Previously we offered our colleagues over 50 a more comprehensive check, but we saw that risks and needs do not follow a simple age threshold."

What became important in the decision was finding a well-designed health screening as an employer. "It was important for us to have a partnership where there was an opportunity to take care of the outcome. We could not do that with our previous setup," says Tina. Through OneLab's approach, follow-up with medical staff is a natural part of the service, which means every employee gets support to understand and act on their results.

Why OneLab and what mattered most

In choosing a partner, AMF Fastigheter looked for something that works in everyday life and that both encourages self-reflection among individuals and gives HR an overview to act on, which meant OneLab's digital platform carried significant weight. "The platform makes it easy to see trends and find inspiration, both at company level and for colleagues. It is pleasant to look at, user-friendly, and it was important for us that it feels simple and inspiring to use," describes Frida.

At the same time, it was the collaboration with OneLab's contacts that made the difference. Tina and Frida describe the initial dialogue as honest, open and attentive. Since the partnership started, AMF Fastigheter has had a dedicated contact person at OneLab to ensure the partnership continues to be as valuable as possible.

Health week that created momentum and lessons learned

The launch of the new initiative was done with a health week that created visibility and made it easy to get involved. The aim was to achieve high participation already in the first round while testing formats for more vibrant health work over time. A health week was much appreciated, and to keep engagement up over time AMF Fastigheter began inviting colleagues to ongoing activities every week, often led and initiated by colleagues with a low threshold for participation.

The offering is broad, with everything from walks and training sessions to book clubs and cultural activities. They avoid finger-pointing and broaden what counts as health so that more people can join in and stay engaged over time. "The goal has been to create balance in the offering," says Tina. "It has shown that you can do very health-promoting work with fairly modest means." The breadth is also visible in knowledge initiatives that employees request, such as lunch lectures on women's and men's health arranged during the autumn.

From data to action for individual and organisation

When the results from the health screening came in, AMF Fastigheter systematically moved from insight to action. An early theme was blood fats. "We saw that quite a few people had slightly elevated blood fats, and then we can still work proactively," says Frida. To respond to the need, themed communications on the subject were sent out, and movement was encouraged through joint activities. Where individuals needed more support, OneLab's Health Program was offered, where a dedicated nurse or psychologist follows the individual over time. At the same time, the aggregated picture is used for planning and prioritisation.

"We want to base our work on the facts and results we have. How are our colleagues doing? What are their needs?"

Effects in everyday life and on the employer brand

The health work is visible both in the calendar and in how AMF Fastigheter is perceived as an employer. In the ongoing health work, they gladly involve colleagues, suppliers and tenants as much as possible. It has become part of how they build relationships, maintain engagement, and create attractive environments where employees, customers and tenants like to spend time. It contributes both to employer branding and to the business, even though the focus is on colleagues feeling well.

Do as AMF Fastigheter does

Borrow the approach:

  • Annual health screening with OneLab for all colleagues
  • Launch during a health week with themed activities
  • Extra individual follow-up where it is needed most with OneLab's Health Program
  • Use organisational results from the health screenings to identify where initiatives are needed
  • Maintain engagement with ongoing activities
  • Broaden the concept of health so everyone can find something at their level
  • Involve colleagues, suppliers and customers where possible

"You need to have the time and resources to invest in proactive health work. Because if you don't invest the time in it, you will end up spending even more time and resources on reactive work."
