Our health examinations help you detect early signs of ill health and prevent serious illnesses. Health Examination Base provides a clear overview of fundamental health markers. For an even more comprehensive assessment of your health, we also offer Health examination Plus. Read more about the differences here!
Health examination Base – Get basic insights into your health
The Health examination Base is paid for by your employer and includes blood pressure measurement and blood tests that show important risk markers for common lifestyle diseases, such as cardiovascular disease, high blood pressure and type 2 diabetes:
- Blood pressure: Measurement of systolic and diastolic blood pressure to identify risk of high blood pressure and cardiovascular disease.
- Cholesterol and blood lipids: Analysis of total cholesterol, LDL (“bad cholesterol”), HDL (“good cholesterol”) and triglycerides to assess the risk of atherosclerosis and heart disease.
- Blood sugar: Measurement of HbA1c (Haemoglobin A1c), a long-term sugar that shows blood sugar levels over time and can indicate the risk of type 2 diabetes.
- Inflammation and infection: hsCRP (High-sensitivity CRP) is analysed to detect low-grade inflammation in the body, which may be linked to an increased risk of cardiovascular disease and other chronic diseases.
Health examination Plus – An in-depth health assessment
In addition to the tests included in Base, you have the option to add extended tests with Health Examination Plus, which also analyses markers for metabolism, haemoglobin, liver and kidney function. These markers are more organ-specific and can indicate risks for developing autoimmune or chronic diseases:
- Thyroid function: TSH (Thyroid-stimulating hormone) is tested to assess metabolism and energy levels. Abnormalities may indicate thyroid disorders such as hypothyroidism or hyperthyroidism.
- Haemoglobin: Haemoglobin is tested to measure the blood’s ability to carry oxygen. Low levels may indicate anemia, which may be due to iron deficiency or other factors such as chronic diseases, vitamin deficiencies, or blood loss.
- Iron balance: Transferrin, a protein that transports iron in the body, is analysed. Abnormal levels may indicate iron deficiency or liver problems.
- Liver function: ALT (Alanine aminotransferase), a liver enzyme, is measured to detect liver damage or inflammation.
- Kidney function: Creatinine is tested to assess kidney function. Elevated levels may indicate kidney damage or decreased kidney function.
- Heart function: An auscultation is performed where a nurse listens to the heart’s rhythm and rate to detect abnormalities, which can provide early indications of cardiovascular disease.
Health examination Plus gives you an excellent opportunity to take control of your long-term health. With a detailed picture of important functions such as the liver, kidneys and heart, we can detect and prevent problems before they arise.
